JUST TO LET YOU KNOW - to K.H.

just to let you know

that yr big black leather
 winter-walking-shoes
are here
in the conservatory
side-by-side
under a rattan chair
where they were left
after yr last Harbour walk to
THE BOOT
or
THE KING'S ARMS
&
was that a packet from
BENNETT'S
clutched closely & guardedly to you
on yr way back
that put a spring in yr step?
or was it the thought of returning to
Spring Down-Under
the next day?
*
As Weymouth approaches winter
i would like to
put yr shoes to some good use
but
my smaller feet
will not fill them -
Tell me what to do.

THE CHOICE/S 14 - 24

14)
dead of night
a ragged wind
tosses roses
no longer
soaked with sun
mother's voice
made of dreams

15)
always greetings
from her eyes
&
fondness
in her heart
no mossy monument
to you
dear girl
just butterflies
and a breeze
of bonhomie

16)
a handful
of flowers
in golden light
breathless whispers return
as salve
in the night

17)
permission to sleep
as the sun
comes up
a beautiful warmth
&
slanting shadows
fishing for God
in this
secret place

18)
gentle fingers
lead the dance
love prays
for love
once more

19)
glimpses of
blue mountains
leaf-patterned hands
the sweetness of
just being
la dolce farniente

20)
evening
benediction
of kisses
vite! vite!
half serious
half amused
une amourette
overtakes
the heart

21)
sitting still
morning glory
engages mind
fruit of
non-thinking
another day
extraordinary
in its own way

22)
an opportunity
to drink-in
the cosmos
to hear myself
talking to
the night -sky
what's on offer
sweet-heart?

23)
blue eyes
stop talking
in the dark
night air
go ahead
return to God
nothing left unsaid

24)
heart confers
with stars
questions go
begging
in the night

WHEN AUTUMN LEAVES

when autumn leaves
neither calendar nor clock
 erases
young love
kicking-up
"acorn leaves"
fallen on path
 from
 "acorn trees..."
overhead
"...aren't they?"
she said...
"i always thought they were!"

*
autumns' leaves
forever
leaves us
yearning
for
that young love
each &
every time...
..."when
autumn leaves...
...start to fall."

Thursday 4 October 2012

THE CHOICE/S 1-13

1)
deer-thin
unmistakeable neck
arms and legs
heart-secret forever

2)
no breath-cloud
magic of
lidded eyes
&
golden bracelets

3)
shadow-mother
blinded by tears
heart traces
another
forward step

4)
mythical Isis
not posthumous
birthdays' candle flickers
Say something !
Do something !
kiss. kiss. kiss.
interchangeable with
love. love. love.

5)
expressing love
tender breath
confident and faltering
at the same time
listen. listen.

6)
playful eyes
spoke volumes
love laughed softly
moonlight shot with silver
again & again

7)
young Isis
bare-shouldered
found a new God
kicking pebbles
on the sands
tip-toeing
amongst prayers

8)
every moment
passed in
deepest reverie
a sense of
her voice
her hand
her touch
windsongs by the sea

9)
looking for traces
difficult words
sign-post says "Heaven"
borrowed time

10)
dream-catcher
wind-bells would
give voice
to the night
in rhyme
with the beating
of my heart
verse after verse

11)
flung against music
shadow-speech
succumbs to song
sleep gulped-down
morning too soon

12)
still harbour
gulls dress the sky
the body takes note
of every cry
every song caught
in every thought

13)
girl-glow
outdoes sunrise
a thousand eyes
all hers
