in the footsteps of doughgen : toni packer on the "creative process"

"Have you actually ever baked bread? If you haven't but want to try it, can self-doubt give way to simply measuring-out ingredients, stirring flour, water, salt, and honey together, one after another, attentively, until the bare hands take-over the task of mixing the heavy dough in rhythmic motions?
There is nothing more miraculous than thorough attention, no matter what the activity may be.
Are we here?
I do not need to know whether this is a "creative process" or not, but I do know that it's not necessarily happening in order to become someone important. Grease the pans, dust them with small sprinklings of flour, and lower the "punched" loaves into them. Let the dough rise until it towers over the pans, then place the pans into the preheated oven. What comes out, at the sound of the bell, is not the same as what went in!
